Edge Protection

Preventing a fall from taking place on site or place of work should be paramount for any organisation. Any measure which protects all workers (collective protection) should be given priority. The installation of a barrier system such as our Edgeshield or Foldshield are both ideal solutions for edge protection.

When a barrier system is not appropriate, a system of restraint should be used. This will prevent a person getting into a position where a fall may take place. The worker will usually attach themselves to a certified anchor point at a position of safety with a lanyard which should ideally prevent the worker getting closer than 50cm to an edge. The use of restraint as a protection system is very popular, however the user must have knowledge of the fall protection equipment they are to use. Great care needs to be taken if working near corners of buildings.
