Edgeshield
Where possible collective fall protection should be utilised to protect people working at height. Various examples of collective measures may be safety nets, air bags or a physical barrier (Edgeshield), preventing workers getting into a position where a fall may take place.
Obviously the use of nets or air bags are better than many other safeguards however they still operate as a fall arrest system, and as such a person can still take a fall which leaves the problem of injury and / or rescue from within the system.
At CAS Ltd we would recommend where possible to install a system which prevents a fall from taking place.
The Edgeshield Guardrail is a protection system that can be assembled on nominally flat roofs (up to 10°slope) on the surfaces specified below.:
- Single-ply membranes (smooth flat surfaces).
- Mineral felt
- Asphalt
- Concrete
- Metal clad roofing
- Stone Chipping on bitumen or mastic base
The use of a counterbalance weight system requires no penetration of the roof membrane making it suitable for installation onto existing buildings with no fall protection in place. The system can be used to protect the edge of buildings as well as the protection against falls through sky-lights.
The standard installation comes without toe-boards but they are available at an additional cost.
