FoldshieldA barrier system which folds away when not in use
Where possible collective fall protection should be utilised to protect people working at height. Examples of collective measures may be safety nets, air bags or a physical barrier, preventing anyone getting into a position where a fall may take place.
Obviously the use of nets or air bags are better than many other safeguards however they still operate as a fall arrest system and as such a person can still take a fall which leaves recovery of an injured person as a major problem
At CAS Ltd we would recommend where possible to install a system which prevent a fall from taking place, such as our Foldshield or Edgeshield Guardrails
Foldshied is a collective fall protection system that can be folded away when not in use, leaving the aesthetic lines of a building unbroken. The barrier is simply lifted from lying flat on the roof surface to vertical where it locks in place. As with the Edgeshield it is a counterbalance system that requires no penetration into the roof membrane.
It can be assembled on nominally flat roofs (up to 10°slope) on surfaces specified below.:~
- Single-ply membranes (smooth flat surfaces).
- Mineral felt
- Asphalt
- Concrete
- Metal clad roofing
- Stone Chipping on bitumen or mastic base
