Candlestick Chimney Whitehaven

Work Carried out: Maintenance of lightning protection system
Client: Copeland Borough Council

CAS Ltd were contracted to access the top of this famous Whitehaven landmark and carry our essential maintenance to the lightning protection system at the top of the chimney.

As powered access was not possible due to the remoteness of the site, rope access was utilised.

A series of small anchors were installed into the chimney allowing the access worker to gain access to the summit of the chimney.  Once at the top of the chimney the air spike was re-attached.

On descent all access fixings were removed.  The duration of the works was less than 4 hours from ground to ground.
